Pigeon Toe Ceramics- Portland’s new ceramic sensation
Lisa Hough is one of those decathlon artists- she’s gifted in many different art disciplines. Her thesis in art school was in video installation, and she owns a graphic design business for skilled artisans and small independent businesses called Finishing School Design.
When Hough launched Pigeon Toe Ceramics in early 2009, the company was a one-woman show. Two production assistants have since joined the team, but Hough still creates 80% of the work and does all of the sales, web design, photographs, copywriting and promotion/marketing herself. With any spare time, she develops new designs for her ceramic line, striving for one new design a month.
Hough’s contemporary porcelain collection has created quite the buzz in Portland the last few months and is quickly catching the attention of retailers and fans outside the local area. Her lovely hand thrown and embellished pieces are fitting for modern and classic homes, and with prices averaging in the mid-20s, even the most frugal of shoppers can splurge on a piece or two .
We are excited to partner with Hough once again on a collaborative event. Hough just recently created a beautiful collection of home garden pieces that Olio will exclusively launch during the Home Trunk Show. The new designs, an homage to outdoor sanctuaries and changing seasons, combine hand thrown porcelain with luscious, vegetable-dyed leathers. Our favorite new design is the hanging planter, which will be given away to a lucky Olio follower during the week of the Home Trunk Show. Giveaway details are to follow.
Along with Hough’s new garden collection, we will feature some of her sample pieces at discounted prices. Be one of the first to shop the sale; trunk show opens Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 12am!
