Pretty, pretty porcelain

March 11, 2009

I’m a sucker for white porcelain ware.  So when Portland’s own Lisa Hough recently launched her ceramics line Pigeon Toe Ceramics, I couldn’t wait to see the new collection in person.  Last week, Lisa brought in some samples for our store (her studio is actually just a few blocks away from the shop!).

dent_vase_1I love the simplicity and organic form of Pigeon Toe Ceramics.  And the gentle dents and folds are a visual reminder of how each piece is handthrown and formed by the artist.    One of my favorite pieces in the collection is the Dent Bud Vase ($26).  It has an endearing shape, and it would look great in any style of home.

Seeing the collection in person, I was pleasantly surprised at the weight of each piece.  Although it looks fragile, the Dent Bud Vase can easily pose as a paper weight.  With it being so weighted, this is one piece that I wouldn’t be afraid to showcase in my kid and animal-friendly domain.

The current Pigeon Toe Ceramics collection can be found on our online shop here.  Currently the lead time is about 3 weeks.  And look for Artist Series coming soon!
