Benefit for Transitions Cambodia

Everyone has a story, and at Olio United we love giving voice to unheard plots. As we began to think about celebrating our first year, we knew there could be no better way to kick-off our Anniversary event than to highlight a cause that makes it possible for women and children to change the course of their life stories. We are excited to open our celebration with a benefit for a charity close to our hearts — locally based Transitions Cambodia, a not for profit organization that works with the survivors of sex trafficking in Cambodia, giving them a place to live and learn as they make the transition into leading normal lives.

Our first Anniversary Weekend will start off with a bang as we’ve teemed up with Toms Shoes, 9 local artists, and Entermodal for a night benefiting this worthy cause.  We’ve commissioned some of our favorite Portland artists to personalize Toms just for Olio, to be sold at silent auction.  We’ll also have fifteen flip cases from Entermodal, 100% of whose sales will go directly to Transitions. There will be plenty of cheer of course, with food from Chef Patrick Wilson of Olea, and drinks to go around.

Transitions is focused on “empowering victims of sexual trafficking with the opportunity and processes to heal from the past, focus on the present, and pursue the future.” There are few situations more horrifying to imagine than becoming the victim of sex trafficking, but this is the lot for far too many worldwide.  We are proud to sponsor Transitions Cambodia in its quest to open up the world of possibilities to these women and children whose conclusions seemed to be pre-written.
