Goodsociety + Apolis Activism Night April 10

2008 April 7
by Korinne

April 10, 6-9 pm

A look at social responsibility in fashion, with the designers of APOLIS ACTIVISM + GOODSOCIETY.

Discuss fair-trade practices. Hear about their causes for good, from the designers themselves. Showing full collections for men + women: denim, shirts, + outerwear on Thursday only. Be sure to stop by!

What the guys from Apolis have to say about their brand:

“We began Apolis by connecting design to social activism and anchoring the
brand in the word Apolis, a citizen of no country. Meaning humanity — not
flags or borders — is the common thread that binds us.

That common thread is what inspires us: the lives that produce our
garments and the lives that wear them. We want to build bridges between
commerce and socially sustainable production in all parts of the world
with our non-profit partners.”

Love, will, do good, Goodsociety:

Goodsociety was planted in 2006 by a group of young, idealistic Seattleites. A computer engineer, a mechanical engineer, a graphic designer and a mathematician, they assembled with a common purpose:

To create a network of individuals intent on driving social change.

They pledge that, for every jean sold, they will plant a tree, feed a family, donate money toward the construction of an orphanage in India, and to continue implementing ground breaking social programs for their workers.
